What is TheatreIST?

TheatreIST is an umbrella initiative designed to introduce Istanbul';s theatre scene —independent theatres in particular — to the world. It encompasses the Showcase, alongside panels, workshops, and networking events bringing together theatre professionals from Turkey and abroad.


Through these gatherings, TheatreIST aims to raise the visibility of Istanbul growing independent theatre community, amplify their voices on the international stage, and support their productions both theoretically and practically. As part of this effort, the initiative also includes the translation of play scripts — from Turkish into other languages and from other languages into Turkish.
